Today (October 7 ,2019) user MasonR posted on LowEndTalk about this benchmarking script that he started working on.  As per him,

The goal of the script was to make something slightly different than what’s already out there, which incorporates benchmark tests that we find ourselves conducting quite often, namely dd, iperf, and Geekbench.”

Below you will find the command for the script (note: sudo previliges, or installation of any additional software not required)

Command: curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/masonr/yet-another-bench-script/master/yabs.sh | bash

All VPS’es had Debian 10 (Buster 64 bit) installed, updated as on date of testing.

The first VPS I ran the test on was

Hosthatch Chicago

Notes:

  1. Why did I run these tests? Because every new BM test teaches something new! Note the results from the network speed tests, for example. Some are blazing fast.
  2. The test results may vary with time and how busy the node is.
  3. I am surprised by how underwhelming the Stockservers VPS is.
  4. As the script gets updated and refined, I may try the other features, namely, skipping a test or two. Those results might be poublished in a subsequent post.
